I really don't think he had many real friends. That is part of his tragic flaw.

While it is true that Ivan's friends were few and far between, when we consider the definition and the meaning of the term and concept "friend" the fact remains that there were people in his life that were considered his friends, as loosely as the term might be applied. In that regard, his friends were annoyed by his death. The entire incident was bothersome, a "wrinkle" in their own personal plans.
