I think this novel bridges the gap between adults and children in its depiction of autism. Children (students) today are educated with their autistic peers, sometimes there isn't even a notable difference, but because of this modern generations are far more apt to understand and show empathy for the condition and those who live with it. This novel allows adults who've never been exposed to "understand" what autism involves, as well as educating them on the disability.
