why did the people in salem village fear the native americans?

I am doing the project for Witch-Hunt Mysteris of the salem witch trials.

The Native Americans were quite "foreign" to the inhabitants of Salem Village. They practiced what was considered a "pagan" religion, worshipped in ways that the Puritans of Salem could not understand, and were simply uncivilized as they were perceived by the Puritans.
