What does he mean when he says the devil is precise?

From Hale's point of view?

Hale believed that the devil's work was precise and easy to recognize, particularly to someone as educated and well versed in witchcraft. As a student of the black arts (in terms of study not practice), Hale believes he knows the signs and is certain he can decifer whether or not the devil is resident in Salem.
