Judge Hathorne is the judge presiding over the witch trials. He is really an extension of the Church. He is an accuser. It is in his interest that judgment on these people, innocent or not, is carried out. Martha Corey is an accused Christian. She is innocent but is accused of selling a cursed pig and reading strange books.
