what are john proctor's attitude towards his land?

Much of Proctor's attitude to land can be seen in Act 1. Proctor and Giles Corey get into an argument with Putnam claiming that he owns land that does not belong to him because Putnam’s grandfather’s will gave away land that he did not own. Proctor is extremely protective of his land, it is his source of wealth and identity. Unlike Putnam, I don't think Proctor covets land that is not his. Putnam telling Proctor that the logs he drags are not his drives Proctor into a rage.
