As Abigail ramps up he threats and drama in the court, we see Mary Warren breaking down. She makes an attempt at the truth: she tries to be brave but she is no match for Abigails manipulations.

Stage directions can offer historical background and help describe setting. In lines 402-421 on page 492 what do the stage directions suggest about what people could do to their servants during the time of play?
