The Crucible Act 1

When Abigail relates her version of what happened in the forest, what lends credibility to her story? Does Parris believe her? Why is he interested in her name "entirely white" in the village?

Abigail lends credibility by admitting to part of the story but negating the other. In my opinion, Parris does not completely believe her. Abigail's reputation is important because it directly reflects on his position in the community and his ministry.
