The witch hunt allows everyone and anyone with a grudge or score to settle to cast suspicion and exact revenge. Thus, if you're angry with a neighbor or you've been done wrong, accusing the person would allow you to have revenge. The entire witch hunt had everyone up in arms and no one was spared...... the hysteria was dangerous.
