Parris' main concern is his place in the community..... what he will get out of his position as Reverend..... how he wil benefit monetarily and materialistically. John Proctor has no interest in anything except his pride.... his good name. He has made mistakes, attempted to make up for them with his wife.... he cares for his family, he's loyal to his friends, and he is willing to sacrifice himself for others. He will not, however, sacrifice his good name.
