Mary gives Elizabeth a doll with a needle in it. They called it a "poppet". The gift might very well have been innocent but Abigail saw her making it in court. Later, when Ezekiel Cheever and Willard/Herrick arrive with a warrant for Elizabeth's arrest, Cheever discovers the poppet that Mary made for Elizabeth, with a needle inside it. Cheever claims that Abigail felt the sting of the needle earlier. This pretty much seals Elizabeth's fate. Abigail has successfully framed her as a voodoo witch. Mary tries to tell the truth about the doll but it is too late.
