Examine Elizabeth’s line, “where she walks the crowd will part like the sea for Israel.” What two literary terms are used in this line? About whom is Elizabeth speaking? Assess what is Elizabeth implying about this person.

The two literary devices are simile and allusion. Elizabeth is speaking about Abigail and inferring that her evil machinations have fooled everyone. Proctor agrees calling Abigail's actions, as well as the actions of all the girls, "black mischief".
