Prevention of this kind of happening comes when people do not operate on suspicion or the kind of mob mentality that we see in the girls as they cry out as a kind of vengeance or a kind of covering oneself as the girls did when they were trying to get out of trouble for dancing in the forest. The people in the story were not willing to admit that they might have made mistakes, which makes them demonstrate an almost hubris-like pride that is simply never good.
