Try Giles Corey's death scene.  Even though it is not actually dramatized in the play, we hear about it from other characters.  Corey refuses to confess a lie just to save his skin.  "More weight" is a powerful statement.  So many innocent people confessed to witchcraft just to stay alive, and these confessions led the leaders to believe there really were witches in their midst, so they continued and even increased the search.  If only they had all been honest--especially John Proctor, about the affair--all those lives could have been saved.

When was John proctor not honest?

He admitted the affair both to Elizabeth and the court.

When was John not honest?  He cheated on his wife!  And this went on for quite some time.

Yes, I know he cheated on his wife, but this happened before the play begins.

During the play we are told of the affair, and we are also told that he has previously admitted this to Elizabeth.

He makes it clear to Abigail during the play that it is over. "I will cut off my hand before I'll ever reach for you again."

He then admits his affair in the court.

As far as I can see, John Proctor is an honest man who made a bad mistake.

Okay, I see your point about John's honesty.

Still, the affair with Abigail started the whole mess.  If not for the affair, Abigail would not have tried to conjure spirits to kill Elizabeth and then had to lie to cover it up.  Had John just kept Abigail at arm's length to begin with, she would not have believed she could have him to herself just by getting rid of his wife.

I look for John Proctor that took me from my sleep and put knowledge in my heart! I never knew what pretense Salem was, I never knew the lying lessons I was taught by all these Christian women and their covenanted men! And now you bid me tear the light out of my eyes? essay writing. I will not, I cannot! You loved me, John Proctor, and whatever sin it is, you love me yet! ===
