He issues a letter of refusal.......... he's a bit of a coward, but even more a bit of a bore. There isn't much sustenance in this character.

Franz is shocked by Noitier's confession. He realized that Noirtier really did kill his father and ends up not marrying Valentine, which makes her extremely happy since she wants to marry Max Morrel. (:
