The Count of Monte Cristo

How is his plan working out thus far?

With this descent into vengeance, how do you see his plan working thus far? What are the connections being made between The Count (and his other "personalities"), other characters, and The Count's master plan?
.Also, what do you think about how The Count is referenced to having qualities of a vampire? pages 140, 154, 160. What does this add or subtract from his character? Why would Dumas choose a vampire or something supernatural to add characterization to The Count?
