How do the interests of the smugglers fit in with Dantès’s own interests?

Dantes could travel with the smugglers unbeknownst to anyne who might be searching for him. Traveling and working with the smugglers benefited the en he traveled with. Traveling with these men gave Dante's the opportunity to stake out the island and eventually get there to claim his treasure.
