People act in different ways in different settings; they are often expected to act a certain way based on the setting because people have different cultural standards based on location. For example, rural Virginia might be very "backward," and could have a much slower pace of life. Men and women might be more circumspect in their actions. On the other hand, New York City represents the essence of sophistication while having a definite tension that exists between all the people who live in such a crowded city. People would simply act differently.
