What caused Ruth to pressure Dennis to get married?

Ruth was adamant that a serious commitment must include marriage. She felt this was important to God and she wanted to set this example to her children. Even though inter racial marriages were few and difficult to maintain during this period, Ruth felt that marriage shows that God and love are not about race and color.
