Ruth

1) Ruth wasn't allowed to attend her high school graduation because it was held in a Christian Church.

2) After Ruth's marriage, she was cut off from her Jewish family because she married a black man.

James

1) James was terrified for his mother during the Black Pride movement, something that tore him apart as the child of a biracial couple.

2) James experienced racism while attending an all white, Jewish school. He also saw his brother arrested for a crime he didn't commit, an arrest that was based solely on his color.
