The Color of Water

The Color of Water

Why do you think Ruth's discipline was so harsh and stern? What aspects of her mothering did you like, which ones would you change?

Ruth wanted the best from her kids. Ruth knew how harsh the world was, especially to people of colour. Ruth insisted that the only way out of poverty and ignorance was through education. She insisted that her children invest in their own education as their number one priority. She also taught her kids to look past race and colour to see everyone as a child of God. I think Ruth was a great mother.
