Why did Holden call Carl Luce even though he didn´t like him much?

a. Holden was desperate for companionship and thought Luce was intellectual and could help him.

b. He wanted to borrow money. He knew Luce was rich, and was a sucker for a sob story.

c. Luce has his own apartment, and Holden figured Luce would let him stay with him until Wednesday.

d. Holden knew Luce was an A student and wanted tuotoring.

So what I did finally, I gave old Carl Luce a buzz. He graduated from the Whooton School after I left. He was about three years older than I was, and I didn't like him too much, but he was one of these very intellectual guys-- he had the highest I.Q. of any boy at Whooton--and I thought he might want to have dinner with me somewhere and have a slightly intellectual conversation.
