From the fight, we can infer that Holden has a high opinion of women he cares about. Holden sees himself as Jane's protector. He's being chivalrous..... defending her honor. Both Holden and Stradlater are acting like the immature boys they are. Stradlater's bragging, and Holden's name calling are both examples of this.
