Holden has a major case of teenaged angst combined with a keen intellect. He enjoys deconstructing society and calling out the hypocrisy that human nature generally possesses. These are his priorities , well these and satisfying his own desires for sex, love, belonging....This is the paradox of Holden. He hates the pursuits that society values yet spends much of his time trying to fill the void in himself with those very same things.
