Describe Holden's mood at the beginning of the chapter to how he behaves as Stradlater leaves for his date with Jane.

What might be the cause of such a sudden change?

When Holden first learns that Jane is downstairs he gets excited and talks about her incessantly while Stradlater prepares for his date. By the time Stradlater leaves, Holden is looking for reasons to pick him apart. He ends up with sexual images and feelings of jealousy.
