There were about 30 pilgrims and each was supposed to tell 2 tales on the way there and 2 tales on the way back Chaucer never tells us who won the competition; he never gets through all the stories. Still, I liked the Wife of Bath's tale. The Knight goes on his quest to find what women want and ends up having to spend a night with an old hag. I remember reading that one in high school and thinking Literature 12 wasn't so bad! The story was funny and made some sort of commentary on feminism (I was 17 so I wasn't sure exactly what). Being 17, I thought it was hilarious that the Knight had to sleep with the old hag. I was easily amused.
