how does the yeomans charcter seem to fit with employers

on the canterbury tales

The yeoman is in the part with the knight and the squire. He is kind of "Robin Hood" character and thus is in the service of the knight. He does forestry "stuff" and indeed he works with the knight and seems to be a perfect example of a worker with the knight. Since the knight travels with few companions, the yeoman seems to be a perfect "supplement" to the party of the knight.
