The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

By page 51, Lola is now your first person narrator instead of Junior. What important things do you learn about her life/character by hearing her story ? What do you learn about their mother, Beli, from Lola's point of view?

In Section I, Chapter II, the narration in this chapter switches to Oscar’s sister, Lola. In this chapter, we learn that Lola's mother has breast cancer. We also learn that Lola felted trapped in her home, and that her mother's cancer gave her the opportunity (or excuse) to break out and do as she wished. Lola runs away with her boyfriend and eventually visits Santo Domingo, where she learns about her ancestry and discovers that she is very much like her mother after all.
