The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

What is propaganda? How is propaganda used to “sell” people on a viewpoint?

Propaganda is advertising designed to convince someone to believe something. It was used a lot during war to get people to support their country or convince people to join a side. Propaganda usually appeals to things that are important to us as humans or that evoke feeling or meaning for us so that we respond to them. A lot of propaganda used children for this reason, or spoke of death or sickness, because it needed an element of it to either cause fear of one thing in order to bring about another, or make parents and adults worried about things so that they second guessed themselves and thought more deeply about what ‘the enemy’ was doing so that they waver and lose some of their ground by not being confident to hold their position. Propaganda can take many forms, but is most commonly seen in newspapers, posters, cartoons, magazines, and these days, television.

This is very rough and doesnt make a lot of sense :( can anyone help

anything to add?

You might want to add that propaganda is used to sell us ideals..... to sway our minds and change what we believe. Propaganda isn't merely used to convince us, its's meant to intrinsicly and subtley change our worldview. Many people rely on others to tell them what to do and what to believe. Proganda embraces those who do not think to question, as well as those who find it appealing to join the crowd. It is often far easier to buy into what we want to hear, than to question what we are actually hearing.
