She takes credit for cleaning Bruno's wound instead of Pavel, "If the Commandant Asks, we'll say that I cleaned Bruno up." Mother wants the credid for this.

Because Pavel is jewish and that she doesnt not want her husband and Bruno's father to know that a jewish man cleaned up after him as the jews were seen as dirty people and had no place near the child of the man in power of a concentration camp. Not that mother wanted the credit.

First of all, both of you have horrible grammar skills, she did not enjoy, or want to take the credit, but took the credit to keep Pavel safe, she wanted to protect Pavel from any danger that Bruno's father could cause, if Bruno's father caught sight of Pavel interacting with Bruno in any way. Pavel was one of the Jews, and the Jews were very disrespected back then. During WWII, the jews were murdered, used as Jewish slaves, starved to death, and tortured. Back then, Bruno's father would see Pavel as a criminal or a person that deserves punishment, even for small things.
