Lieutenant Kotler is depicted as a bully; Bruno's silence gives him more power. What, in your opinion, should Bruno have done to stand up for the bullied - Pavel and Shmuel? Give reasons for your answer.

There was not much Bruno could do. The only power he has is the high position of his father but using that must be done sparingly and with great discretion. Using the relationship Kotler has with his mother could be very dangerous for his mother.
