The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

The boy in the striped pajamas

at the end of chapter 5 something happens which shows the reader that Bruno does not know anything about the situation he and his family are in. How do you know that he does not understand? What other clues have there been up to this point. Make a list.

After leaving their house in Berlin, Bruno and his family had arrived at the train station. On the other side of the train tracks from their train, there had been another train being boarded by crowds of people looking uncomfortable. It occurred to Bruno that since the trains are going in the same direction, some of them might come on board his train, but he doesn't say anything. That's the only clue that Bruno has that something is amiss. He doesn't really understand the ominous reasons why two trains are going to the same place.
