This question was previously answered;

"Walter leaves money, maps, directions, and a copy of Mein Kampf with a key, and in 1940 Max makes the dangerous journey to Molching. All of them help Max where he needs to go. The copy of Mein Kampf provides good cover for Max not to be asked questions."
