The Book Thief

What is ironic about Liesel's obsession with stealing books? What are some other uses of irony in the novel? How does irony impact the reader's feelings?

I really need help with this question.

I think the irony is in the fact that people are hungry and instead of stealing food, she wants to steal books. It is also ironic because she recently began to read and was for many years illiterate.
