Why did Hans junior accused his father of cowardice? What was the "mistake" Papa Hubbermann had commited?

 Hans had refused to join the Nazi party. His son felt this was cowardly. Hand had also covered over anti-Semitic graffiti and Nazi propaganda. Han's Junior says this was a mistake that his father will pay for.
