The Ageless Brother

“She smiled and smiled, and when it all came out, she walked home and her brother never climbed into her sleep again” (473). Why does her brother never disturb her sleep again (think about the act of returning the plate and being kind to the mayor’s wife and how this connects)?

Liesel's brother stayed with her even after death. She saw him in her dreams.... she held onto the memory. After seeking Ilsa's forgiveness, Liesel expects to see her brother on the stairs behind her.... almost like her conscience. Then she realizes the image is and always will be six years old, so she lets him go and allows him to become a memory.
