Rudy's act of "stupidity"

Rudy’s act of “stupidity”

Rudy refuses to name Hitler’s birthday. Why did Rudy refuse to name Hitler’s birthday to Franz Deutscher? Was it really “stupid”? What are some other words that might be used to describe Rudy’s action? What does this act tell us about Rudy’s character?

This really depends on your opinion. I think many readers sympathize and admire Rudy's conviction to stand up for what he believes in, even though it might cause great harm to him. Rudy shows moral strength and integrity that might have been lacking in the general population. From a strictly self-preservation point of view, his actions might be viewed as "stupid".
