Voice is very important in The Bloody Chamber. The Bride uses both first person and the past tense to narrate the story, which gives the narration a certain quality of reflection. The narrator also utilizes direct and indirect speech in the text, recounting past expereinces with indirect speech, all while employing direct speech to convey her immediate thoughts. The author also uses repetition in order to clearly emanate the importance of specific ideas. This is largely used with the question....... "Are you sure you love him."
