whats esthers attitude toward men, sex, marriage, and having children?

For so much of the novel Esther is in such pain that all these ideas begin to seem farther and farther away from her. Initially she does feel the general pull and angst over adolescence and sexuality but all her other issues confound her maturation. In the end all of this carries fear and paranoia.
