Why did the narrator's mother agree to call her daughter "Miss Marietta" and then "Missy"?
Marietta insisted upon being called Miss Marietta when she was three years old because the rich children her mother worked for were all called Miss "___." The name later became Missy......... and then changed again when she moved to Kentucky.
