Lou Anne used to play a game with her brother involving a cigar box. They imagined they could look inside and see themselves when they were older. Lou Ann was frightened to go past 25 years old because she thought she's be dead. Lou Anne also had a dream of an angel telling her that her son would not grow old either. There is a strong sense of fatalism in both stories.
