The protagonists are Lyra, Will, Lord Asriel and his army who are on a mission to kill the dictatorial Almighty whereas the antagonists are the Almighty, his chief angel Metatron and their armies who want to keep their government.

The major conflict is in the fight against good and bad with Lord Asriel leading an army against the army of the Almighty.

The climax is when the army of Lord Asriel wins the fight against the army of the Almighty. When this happens, the precious dictatorial rule of the Almighty ends.

The shadows had told Dr. Malone that she would play the role of the serpent. This came true when Dr. Malone tempted Lyra and Lyra's decision saved the world.

Lyra said that the fight between the specters and the ghosts was strange. This is an understatement because the fight was surreal and unimaginable. This is because both the specters and the ghosts were almost invisible.
