Individual changes are inevitable in life: they just happen. How we react to these changes depends on us. Santiago underwent many obstacles but always maintained his personal dream. There were many times where Santiago felt stability, like with the Crystal Merchant or with his relationship with Fatima but he kept on with his quest. We similarly can find times of stability without reaching our goals. Should we risk that stability? Should we stop searching in the face of a seemingly overwhelming obstacle? I think that Coelho says that we should.
