The adventure is realistic for the context of the times. Much of the novel has to do with a boy's typeof adventure. The woods take on a sort of lawless magical place where things happen. There is a murder, there are caves, there is endless play and even a treasure of sorts. Twain makes sure it all makes sense in the end.
