The way the old Welshman reacts when Huck reveals the true identity of the Spaniard is that The Old Welshman almost jumped out of his chair. “‘Tain’t a Spaniard—it’s Injun Joe!’ ” He says this because he almost automatically knows who Huck is talking about.
