Emmeline had passed away several years earlier. She was a talented poet and painter, and concentrated her work on eulogies for the dead. Huck thinks Emmeline's poetry is very beautiful. THe poetry touches something in Huck and wishes that he could compose some lines devoted to Emmeline. Huck tries but is unable to come up with anything.
