The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

What is the author foreshadowing after they provide examples of superstition?

Pages 3 and 5 have 1 example of superstition in each. The one about the spider causing bad luck and the superstition of Jim after his hat have been put on a limb and Huck and Tom told him the story about the witches. The author foreshadows here but, what is the foreshadowing?

This is superstition as well as bordering on religion. I'm not convinced these events foreshadow anything in particular.
