What do you think life on the river means to huck? In what sense are he and Jim actually seeking the same thing?

Both Huck and Jim see the river as a symbol of freedom. For Huck, this means not having to answer to anyone but himself. For Jim, it means freedom from slavery and a reunion with his family.
