In the beginning these guys are kind of amusing. They serve as two clowns for some comic relief. As their time in the story unfolds, there is something much more sinister about them. The whole charade swindling inheritance money out of a family and their utter disregard for loyalty and friendship display their true colour. Certainly the King turning Jim in as a runaway was a low point of character. These two, while amusing characters, really were rotten people.
