King is manipulative and convincing, leading both Huck and Jim to conform to his desires to be treated like a king.

King manipulates people into giving him money. One example would be his speech about his intent to reform and convert pirates...... he collects $87.75 and a jug of whisky from the people in the crowd.

The King successfully gathers enough information to make the Wilk's family believe that he is Peter Wilk's (recently deceased) brother.
